Chocolate Extreme: 99% Cacao

I like dark / bitter chocolate and the cacao craze has definitely hit Japan. I was in the store the other day and saw bars of 99% cacao being sold. Even though I do love dark chocolate, I'm not sure even my taste buds could handle something like that...

   another dark chocolate lover here! i don't think i could eat 99% by itself, but i could see letting a small piece melt in my mouth while drinking coffee. yum!
   
   the health food store i go to sells chocolate with some fairly unique additions: lime, lavender, rosebuds. my favorite from that line is chocolate with chiles: definitely perks you up.

   Eeesh. Very very milky milk chocolate for me. I prefer white chocolate even (only ever now and then do I like any kind of dark chocolate). But, what does the Yen sign with the two dashes through the bottom of the Y mean? How do they signify "cents" or do they?

   Yes, it's similar to a cents sign
